South Indian Fish Curry

Catfish-2.5lbs

Onion-1/2 cup diced

Garlic pods-8

Ginger-1/2 inch

Turmeric powder-1/4 tspn

Red chili powder-1 tspn

Pepper powder-1/2 tspn

Methi seeds-1/4 tspn

Fresh Coconut milk- 1 cup (thick)

Salt to taste

Curry Leaves- 1 sprig

Method

Marinate catfish with salt and turmeric and set aside for 2 hours.

Make a fine paste of onions, garlic, ginger, tamarind and all the powders using a cup of water.

Heat a kadai, add the coconut oil, once heated add the ground masala to it and add 1/2 cup water to it and bring it to a boil and then simmer it on low flame for 10-12 mins. Now add coconut milk and fish pieces to it and let it simmer for 7-10 mins gently mixing once in between.

Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot with hot white rice or idols or dosas.
